La. mayor proclaims Meek Mill gratitude day for Lil Snupe mentorship
Jonesboro, Louisiana Mayor Leslie Thompson on Friday issued a proclamation declaring a day of gratitude for Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill in recognition of Mill’s mentorship of protege Lil Snupe.
Lil Snupe, a Jonesboro native, was shot and killed June 20 at the age of 18.
Mill posted a photo of the proclamation issued June 29 on his Instagram account.
The accolade served ”to say ‘thank you’ to a man who saw the potential in Lil Snupe, introduced him to other rappers who embraced him, and in early 2013, signed 17-year-old Lil Snupe to his record label, Dream Chasers, after hearing his demo,” according to the document.
Mill accompanied the shot of the proclamation with the following tweet:
Mill has posted several tributes on social media to the late Lil Snupe since his protege’s death.
