One woman was stabbed and another punched in the face on a northbound 6 train on their morning commute this morning, police reported.

Cops said they have the alleged assailant, a 31-year-old homeless woman, in custody. She is undergoing psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital and has not yet been charged.

The suspected stabber was reportedly staring at the first victim, a 39-year-old woman, as the train neared the 59th Street station and then suddenly lunged at her with a knife.

Passengers on the train were able to restrain her, cops said.

But when the victim attempted to get off of the train at 59th Street, the woman allegedly lunched at her again and stabbed her in the left shoulder and stomach.

Cops said the second victim, a 19-year-old girl, was trying to help the first victim. She had her hair pulled and was punched in the face.

Police were called around 10:10 a.m. and were able to take the suspect into custody at the scene. Both victims were taken to Cornell Hospital in stable condition.
