UPDATE, 9:04 a.m.: Philadelphia police say one of two men shot in a robbery attempt in Lawncrest early this morning remains in critical but stable condition after he was shot in the head.

The 23-year-old man is hospitalized at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, was shot once in his ankle, police said. He is in stable condition at Einstein.

Police say two men were involved in the attempted robbery. A gun believed used in the crime was recovered on the 400 block of East Howell Street, where the double shooting occurred about 12:18 a.m.

Two men were shot during a robbery attempt in Philadelphia’s Lawncrest section early this morning.

The double shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. on the 400 block of East Howell Street, 6ABC Action News reports.

One victim is in critical condition after being shot in his head and torso, according to the report. The second victim is in stable condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police reportedly recovered one of two firearms believed to have been used in the shooting.
