Dean of prestigious NYC private school busted for drug possession
The dean of a private school on Manhattan’s Upper East Side was arrested for drug possession last week and has now been suspended from his job.
Nicholas deSpoelberch, who is the dean of students at Regis High School, was found passed out by police last Thursday night in Connecticut, the Daily News reports.
When officers found the intoxicated deSpoelberch, he told them he was using drugs and was in possession of medication not prescribed to him. Police found heroin, Oxycodone, Clonidine and drug paraphernalia in deSpoelberch’s vehicle.
The school has suspended the dean until further notice, according to NY1.
“We have zero tolerance for such activities, and as such Mr. deSpoelberch has been suspended pending further investigation,” the school said in a statement.
DeSpoelberch was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and retaining prescribed pill outside their original container, according to the Wilton Bulletin. He is currently out on a $2,500 bond and is due back in court on July 22.
