Man shot to death at Springfield bar
A man was shot and killed at a popular Springfield bar early Thursday morning.
Police were called to Duck’s Place, at 1146 State St., shortly after midnight for a report of a shooting on the establishment’s patio, the Springfield Republican reports.
The victim was rushed to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.
Springfield police Lt. Harry Gagnon told the Republican that a heavyset man wearing a baseball cap, white T-shirt and jeans fired several gunshots before fleeing the scene.
The Springfield Police Department Forensic Investigation van and police vehicles remained at the crime scene for several hours after the shooting.
Until early 2013, Duck’s Place was known as Charm Cafe.
Police are asking anyone with information to call detectives at (413) 787-6355. Anonymous text-message tips may be sent to CRIMES (274637), with the body of the message beginning with the word SOLVE.
