Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez is due in Attleboro District Court on Wednesday to face charges in the murder case brought against him.

NBC News reports that Hernandez will appear at the probable cause hearing. He is pleading not guilty in the death 0f 27-year-old Boston semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, whose body was found June 17 in an industrial park in North Attleborough near Hernandez’s home. He suffered five gunshot wounds.

Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated Lloyd’s killing because he was upset at him for talking to people Hernandez had problems with at a nightclub a few days earlier, the article continues.

Hernandez’s alleged co-conspirators, Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz, drove Lloyd to the industrial park, where Hernandez fired the shots that killed Lloyd, prosecutors claim. Wallace pleaded not guilty to a charge of being an accessory to murder after the fact, while Ortiz has pleaded not guilty to a gun charge.

According to the Boston Globe, prosecutors have begun making the case to a Suffolk County grand jury that Hernandez should be charged in the shooting death of two men on a South End street last July as well.

Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu were shot early on July 16, 2012, in the South End when someone in a sport utility vehicle with Rhode Island license plates pulled up next to their car and began firing, the Globe writes.

Hernandez is being held in jail without bail.
