The suspect in the Brooklyn shooting that wounded five last Saturday was apprehended in by the NYPD Violent Felony Squad Springfield, Massachusetts, according to an NYPD report.

The shooting reportedly stemmed from a complaint by the daughter of one of the victims. She said the suspected shooter, Curtis Peterson, had harassed her.

Cops said Peterson was found at his common-law wife’s home in Springfield and was taken to a local police precinct where he gave a statement to NYPD detectives from the 83rd precinct, where the shooting took place.

Peterson reportedly admitted to shooting all five victims but argued that it was in self-defense. He reportedly told detectives that he paid $300 for the gun he used, which he purchased out of fear of the Pizarro family.

The Pizarros were the victims in the Saturday afternoon shooting in Bushwick. Peterson reportedly told cops that he happened to be on the same block Saturday where one of the Pizarro family members lives, and that he started shooting because one of the Pizarros was going to throw a cinderblock at him.

Peterson reportedly refused to tell detectives how or where he bought the gun.

The Brooklyn District Attorney has already drawn up an arrest warrant on charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The warrant was given to the Springfield Police Department, as Peterson is currently in custody at the Hampton County House of Corrections in Ludlow, Massachusetts awaiting extradition back to New York City.
