There will be one fewer employee staffing the Ferris wheel this weekend in Beverly.

An alleged Maine murderer was found by police because he scored a job working at the Beverly Foundation Carnival, an annual fundraiser for Beverly High School.

Sebastian Moody, 22,  didn’t count on the law that requires the carnival to turn their employees over to police if suspicious behavior is found on a background check. During the review, it was found that Moody was wanted in the April murder of 20-year-old Romeo Parent, the Bangor Daily News reports.

Moody was indicted by a grand jury in May on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution stemming from Parent’s slaying, but he soon fled the state.

He was arrested on a charge of being a fugitive from justice and is expected to be extradited to Maine to appear in court on the felony hindering charge.

According to an affidavit filed by Maine State Police Detective Randall Keaten, Moody implicated Michael McNaughton, 25, of Lewiston, in Parent’s killing, telling a friend that McNaughton had stabbed Parent with a screwdriver and strangled him with a wire cable in a wooded area in Greene, and that it had taken him six tries before Parent died, the Daily News continued.
