Woman claims jackpot from Powerball ticket bought in Point Breeze
The woman who bought the jackpot-winning June 22 Powerball lottery ticket in Point Breeze has stepped forward to claim her prize, Pennsylvania lottery officials announced Tuesday.
Patricia Chandler, of Upper Darby, purchased the ticket – which correctly matched all five white balls and the red Powerball, 28 – at Federal Beer Distributors, located at 1440 Federal St.
Chandler on Tuesday presented the Powerball ticket for validation at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County.
The woman opted to receive a lump sum prize of $77.4 million, less federal withholding, rather than a $131.5 million annuity.
“This jackpot ranks as the fourth largest Powerball cash prize ever awarded by the Pennsylvania Lottery,” Lottery executive director Todd Rucci said in a statement.
The largest prize ever awarded to a single winning ticket in Pennsylvania was a $110.2 million Powerball jackpot cash prize from the May 8, 2004, drawing, which was claimed by a couple from Skillman, N.J.
Federal Beer will earn a $100,000 bonus for selling Chandler the winning ticket.
