Drug suspect shot while trying to run down officer
A Chester police officer shot a drug suspect Wednesday as the man allegedly tried to run him down with an SUV.
The incident happened about 4 p.m. at Fourth and Hayes streets, 6ABC Action News reports.
Police observed the suspect engaging in drug-related activities, according to the report. As officers moved in to make an arrest, the suspect put the Jeep Cherokee in gear, rammed an undercover police car, then proceeded to drive toward the officer.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was shot three times. He was taken to Chester Crozer Medical Center and charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses.
