Poll: Christine Quinn leads Democratic candidates for mayor
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is once again leading the Democratic candidates for mayor, according to a new poll released on Thursday.
Quinn has 25 percent of voter support, Bill Thompson has 16 percent, Bill de Blasio has 14 percent and Anthony Weiner trails with 10 percent, according to The New York Times/Siena College poll. All the other Democratic candidates had less than 5 percent of support.
Weiner had been in first place in some polls before revelations that he continued sexting women online after he resigned from Congress rattled his campaign. This is the lowest rating for Weiner since entering the race.
Twenty-six percent of Democratic voters remain undecided, according to the poll. A runoff election will be held on Oct. 1 if no candidate wins support from at least 40 percent of voters.
The poll also found that former Gov. Eliot Spitzer leads Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer 44 to 35 percent in the race for City Comptroller, with 19 percent of voters undecided in that race.
