Schumer highlights Daniel Squadron’s gun record in TV ad
Putting his full political might into the race for public advocate, Sen. Chuck Schumer touts state Sen. Daniel Squadron’s gun record in a new ad released by the campaign Monday.
“In the battle against illegal guns, Daniel Squadron is a New Yorker who gets results,” Schumer says in the TV spot that will be aired initially on cable networks.
Though Schumer hasn’t made an endorsement in the mayoral election or the comptroller race, he endorsed Squadron in June. The ad is sure to shake up an otherwise tepid race for public advocate, which has gotten little attention in a crowded election season.
Schmuer says in the ad that Squadron “stood up to the NRA 100 percent of the time.”
He also notes Squadron wrote a law to ban assault weapons and voted to ban high-capacity magazines and require background checks in the state.
“I watched Daniel work, fighting to get illegal guns off the street, making a real difference,” Schumer says.
Squadron said in a statement that Schumer’s support “will make a huge difference” for his campaign.
