Bethlehem cop crashes his car into parked vehicle, faces DUI
Bethlehem police officer Richard Hoffman faces drunken driving charges and was put on paid administrative leave after he crashed his car into a parked vehicle on a main city thoroughfare while off-duty last week, police said today.
Hoffman crashed his car on East Broad Street around 3 a.m. Thursday in which he damaged three vehicles including his own, police said. Hoffman did not suffer any serious injuries.
The officer agreed to blood tests when he was transported to St. Luke’s University Hospital. Blood work, which Bethlehem police received Monday, showed his blood-alcohol content was 0.16. In Pennsylvania, 0.08 is the legal limit.
Police said it started an internal investigation.
