Delaware teen arrested after fight ends in shooting
Officials with the Delaware State Police Criminal Detectives on Sunday arrested a teenager after he allegedly agreed to fight a man with his fists but pulled out a firearm instead.
Investigators said authorities were called around 5:30 p.m. to the 1500 block of Joshua Clayton Road near Dover for a report of a shooting.
There, a witness allegedly told police Patterson Green, 19, had shot a 23-year-old man in the leg after an altercation.
Troopers walking through the neighborhood found Green and took him into custody.
Police said an investigation revealed Green and the victim were arguing earlier that afternoon outside the Alder Park Apartments and agreed to settle the dispute by fighting each other without weapons.
The two left the apartment complex and began walking down Joshua Clayton Road when police said Green turned around and fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking him in the leg.
He was admitted to a local hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said two other men, aged 32 and 29, following the duo and were close to the gunfire, but were not injured.
Green is charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and one count each of first-degree assault, possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
He was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $46,500 cash bond.
