ORIGINAL: A six-alarm fire that broke out Thursday afternoon inside an ice cream shop on the Seaside Park boardwalk is still raging, according to a report from The Star-Ledger.

The blaze, which began around 2:15 p.m. at the Kohr Brothers Frozen Custard shop, spread to at least 19 other buildings, fanned by high winds.

Officials said firefighters were at 4:30 p.m. ordered to pull back due to the flames’ ferocity.

Seaside Park Police Chief Francis Larken told NBC10 at least 80 percent of the boardwalk has been destroyed and up to three dozen businesses have been decimated.

Several firefighters and residents are reportedly being treated for smoke inhalation, though no serious injuries have yet been reported.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

The fire came as the section of the Seaside boardwalk was rebounding from the damage it suffered last October due to Hurricane Sandy.

Flames spread to the adjacent Funtown Pier, which was decimated by Sandy.

CBS reports the Funtown Pier became completely engulfed and began to collapse around 6 p.m.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reportedly en route to the scene.
