Cops: Man arrested for stealing 15 gallons of gas from Del. bean farm
Delaware State Police on Friday arrested a Georgetown man for allegedly stealing 15 gallons of gasoline and equipment from a bean farm in Harbeson.
Police last week released surveillance footage of the suspect, and detectives said numerous tips they received through media outlets and the Crime Stoppers tip line led them to identify Robert Storms Jr., 22, as the alleged culprit.
Authorities said Storms sometime in the early morning hours of Aug. 30 and Sept. 10 drove a vehicle through a bean field of a farm owned by an unidentified 75-year-old man and located on the 20000 block of Beaver Dam Road.
There, Storms allegedly removed batteries from a tractor and forklift.
Authorities said he also a lock off of a gas pump and stole about 15 gallons of gasoline.
Storms was arraigned Friday and charged with two counts each of third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespassing and theft under $1,500 from a victim over the age of 62, along with one count each of possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief.
Storms was released on $10,7000 unsecured bond.
