More details have been released by police in the fatal hit-and-run that killed a  father in Middleboro last week.

Michael Dutra, 58, was riding his bike to a grocery store when he was struck by a car on Wood Street on Friday evening. Police are now saying that debris left at the scene shows the car that hit Dutra was a light-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee made between 2005 to 2009. The car would now have visible front damage, including bumper damage, a shattered right headlight, and a missing or broken marker lens, WBZ reports.

“There’s no way this person could actually believe they didn’t hit anything. They know they did. They took something from us, our dad,” Shannon Dutra, the victim’s devastated daughter, told WBZ-TV.

Dutra had received a liver transplant in 1991, but nearly died last year from complications. He had just gotten back on the path to health at the time of his death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Middleboro Police Department at 508-947-1212 or State Police at 508-947-2222.
