(UPDATE) Service resumes at Times Square subway station after grenade scare
Service has resumed on several subway lines at Times Square station after a hand grenade scare Monday afternoon, officials said.
The MTA reported around 2:40 p.m. that the A, C and E lines are now making stops at the station but that customers should still expect delays.
Police confirmed that initial reports of a hand grenade at the station were incorrect and said all was clear.
The object NYPD were called to investigate turned out to be a toy Chinese lantern, police said.
