Police charge man, 22, in fatal Bronx hit-and-run
A young man was charged with murder after police said he jumped the curb and drove into a man early Saturday in the Bronx.
Henry Lawrence, 22, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder and one count of manslaughter after police said he drove his Toyota onto a sidewalk and fatally struck 32-year-old Derrick Callender just after midnight in Wakefield.
Police said Lawrence and passengers in the car fled the scene on foot. The other passengers are still under investigation, police said.
Callender was hit just feet from his apartment building. Police said he was taken to Montefiore North Hospital with trauma about his body and pronounced dead.
