Father, kids escape Strawberry Mansion fire by jumping from window
A Strawberry Mansion man and his children jumped to safety after a fire broke out in their building early Thursday morning.
Philadelphia fire officials tell 6ABC Action News that the father followed his 13-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son out a rear second-floor window to escape the fire, which broke out about 4 a.m.
The fire happened on the 2500 block of West Sergeant Street.
The children were treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children for ankle pain.
There was no word on what caused the fire. The building houses a grocery store on the first floor.
