VIDEO: Time lapse shows NYC marathon from Verrazano Bridge
The MTA released a poignant video capturing this year’s New York City marathon.
The marathon held extra meaning for the city this year, as it had to be canceled last fall because of Hurricane Sandy. As the opening of the video notes, 2012 was the first year without a New York City marathon since the event was first held in 1970.
Set to mounting instrumental music and with time lapse from the top of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge mixed in with footage from the sidelines, all apparently filmed by MTA employees, the video showcases the marathon from setup to finish.
The MTA dedicated the video to all the marathon runners, as well as all of the New Yorkers who have been working to build back the city since Hurricane Sandy.
