Northeast Philadelphia family robbed at gunpoint
A man was robbed at gunpoint early Friday when he and his family returned to his father’s Northeast Philadelphia home from Thanksgiving church services.
The robbery happened just after midnight on the 2700 block of Springhouse Road, NBC10 reports. The victim, 19, tells police he was forced into the home as he was getting his pregnant wife and their 2-year-old daughter out of their minivan.
Police are investigating the possibility the victims were followed to their home from the church where they had attended services. A masked gunman reportedly forced the victim into the home and stole the man’s Rolex watch and the keys to the minivan.
No one was hurt in the armed robbery.
The family and members of their church, the International Assembly of God Apostolic Church on Castor Avenue, told NBC10 this crime marked the third time a member of the Roma gypsy community was robbed in recent weeks.
