The 48-year-old Bucks County man who pleaded guilty to killing a Philadelphia Highway patrolman in a collision while under the influence of alcohol on an I-95 on-ramp last year will serve time in prison, reports say.

According to 6ABC, John Leck Jr., of Levittown, was sentenced Monday to serve 10 to 20 years in a state penitentiary.

Leck ignored several traffic signs and drove his 2010 Audi the wrong way on the I-95 Cottman Avenue exit ramp and collided with Officer Brian Lorenzo’s motorcycle in the early hours of July 8, 2012. Lorenzo was driving home from work after finishing his shift.

In October Leck pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and DUI. Since he had no prior convictions, the District Attorney’s Office dropped the involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle charges in exchange for the guilty plea.

A blood test revealed Leck’s blood alcohol content was .218.

In August a portion of I-95 was renamed in honor of Lorenzo, a 23-year veteran of the police force and father of three.
