The executive director of a Queens nonprofit was arrested and charged with stealing some $373,000 in government grants between 2006 and 2013.

Dr. Dorothy Ogundu, the founder of Angeldocs Inc., allegedly used the nonprofit to siphon the money from city, state and federal grants meant for capital improvements and programs, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Thursday.

“City, state and federal funds intended to serve New Yorkers in need should not be used to line the pockets of people running charities,” Schneiderman said in a statement.

Angeldocs was reportedly a health clinic for the poor, but State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said in statement that Ogundu really deprived needy New Yorkers thousands of dollars in aid.

Ogundu is charged with stealing a portion of 12 government grants awarded to Angeldocs by filing false reimbursement requests and making false statements to various agencies.

Authorities said that Ogundu used the money to pay the mortgage on a commercial property she owned as well as to make improvements to the property. She also allegedly used grant money to make purchases for her nonprofit and personal benefit and to ship vehicles to and from Nigeria, where she is from.

Authorities said Ogundu said some of the money would be used to build a kitchen at the charity, among other improvements.

Ogundu turned herself in to police Thursday and pleaded not guilty to grand larceny and forgery, among other charges. She was released on her own recognizance.

Gary Farrell, her attorney, would not comment on the charges but said that she does “excellent work as a physician” and helps people.
