MTA welcoming six new pop-up shops
After the success of the artsy Newsstand store at the Metropolitan G/L train station and the recently opened Uniqlo at the Union Square subway hub, the Metropolitan Transit Authority is putting out a call for applications for six more pop-up shops in the city’s underground mass transit system.
Applicants would occupy each site on a month-to-month basis while the MTA works to secure permanent tenants.
The available locations are:
- The mezzanine outside the turnstiles at the DeKalb Avenue BQR in Brooklyn
- Two separate sites in the shuttle passage at the 42nd Street/Grand Central 4/5/6/7/S station
- The mezzanine level between the subway and the Long Island Railroad at the 61st Street-Woodside 7 station
- Two separate sites on the downtown and uptown platforms at the 50th Street 1 station in Manhattan
There is no deadline for pop-up store applications, and the MTA hopes to add more locations.
