Man accused of following woman home from McDonald’s and trying to rape her last week
Police arrested a man suspected of following a woman home from McDonald’s and trying to rape her in Manhattan last week.
Donnelle Murphy, 29, was charged with attempted rape this weekend after attacking a woman in her Kips Bay apartment early Dec. 16.
The woman, in her 20s, told police she realized she left her wallet in a nearby McDonald’s after getting home to her apartment near Lexington Avenue.
The woman heard a knock at the door and police said Murphy told her that he found the wallet and forced his way inside the apartment around 2 a.m. Investigators believe Murphy used the wallet to find her address.
Police said Murphy tried to rape the woman, but she fought him off. He fled with her wallet.
Murphy was also charged with burglary, grand larceny, menacing and assault.
It’s unclear if Murphy has an attorney.
