Applebee’s to charge $375 for New Year’s Eve Extravaganza

New York has no shortage of New Year’s Eve parties: You can party with Icona Pop for $250 at the top of the Standard, or hang out with Macklemore at the Dream Downtown for $175.

But why do that when you can boogie down at Applebee’s for $375? Both restaurants, located on 42nd Street in Times Square and on 50th Street, are throwing serious shindigs starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets for children are $250. But what do the tickets include?

At the 42nd Street location, Applebee’s will offer a chef’s selection buffet, premium open bar, party favors, house DJ and live entertainment, dance floor, Champagne toast at midnight and, wait for it, nonstop fun. The 50th Street location will offer the same, minus the party favors plus satellite wine and beer stations. Applebee’s is touting the party as the “coolest party in Times Square,” perhaps because, “After 11pm, guests are allowed to make their way to the streets of Times Square to ring in the New Year.”

An Applebee’s employee told Metro that the restaurant will be closed to the public starting at 4:30 p.m., so don’t even think about getting a quick pre-ball-drop dinner there. When asked how many people had made reservations for the New Year’s Eve spectacular, the employee declined to comment.

Hilariously, the Applebee’s website hosts a real-time Twitter feed of people who mention Applebee’s. Many of these tweets are negative comments about the exorbitant price of the New Year’s Eve fete.
