Tenant arrested for killing, nearly decapitating Brooklyn landlord, police say
A Brooklyn man was arrested and charged with murder after his landlord was found dead and nearly decapitated in his apartment building’s basement Tuesday, police said.
Rasel Siddiquee, 27, was arrested at JFK Airport on Tuesday night as he was trying to flee the country, according to police.
He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon after his landlord, Mahuddin Mahmud, 57, was found nearly beheaded with burns to his face early Tuesday morning.
Police said Mahmud was found shortly after midnight by his brother in the Kensington building he owned. Mahmud lived several blocks away but also ran an electronics store out of the building.
It was not immediately known if Siddiquee had an attorney. He was awaiting arraignment Wednesday.
