Driver charged with DWI after death of Bronx pedestrian: NYPD
A man was arrested after striking and killing a pedestrian while allegedly driving drunk in the Bronx Saturday, police said.
Augustus Jenkins, 28, was charged with aggregated DWI after police said he hit Nydja Herring, 32, as she crossed East Tremont Avenue in Van Nest around 5:30 p.m.
Herring was pronounced dead at Einstein Hospital.
Jenkins, a Montgomery, N.Y., resident, was uninjured during the crash and taken into custody at the scene.
Information on Jenkins’ lawyer was not immediately available.
