Philadelphia is looking for local leaders who have those “ideas worth spreading.”

In anticipation of the day-long TEDxPhilly talk in March, organizers are making a last call for speakers.

On March 28, the city will host its third official TEDxPhiladelphia conference at the Baptist Temple on Temple University’s campus.

The theme: “The New Workshop of the World.”

“From the 1860s through the early 1970s Philadelphia was known by the well-earned moniker, ‘Workshop of the World,’” according to its website. “Now it’s reemerging as a home for makers, entrepreneurs, artists, and a dizzying array of thinkers and doers. This Spring, TEDxPhiladelphia will spotlight those at the intersection of community, business, and culture, as we explore the revitalization of an old urban center. The 2014 conference celebrates this New Workshop of the World, an idea and image the city embodies as it reclaims its position on the global stage as a center for innovation.”

An offspring of the now infamous TED talks, which were established as global conferences that shared innovative ideas in technology, entertainment and design in short presentations, TEDx emphasizes local leaders discussing ideas for local transformation.

The local team organizing the event has set Jan. 16 as the deadline to nominate speakers. Click here to nominate a local visionary.

The city hosted TEDx talks in 2010, which adopted the theme of “Right Here, Right Now,” and in 2011, which championed the theme “The City.”
