Northeastern University Public Safety is asking students to be on high alert after a man claiming to be a medical resident assaulted a young woman after she met him for coffee.

Northeastern student Claudia Frau told the school’s Huntington News that she met a “slim, blonde, white man in his 20s wearing dressy, black shiny shoes” after he told her she was pretty on the street. After exchanging phone numbers, the two met up for coffee at Pavement Coffeehouse. When the man claimed he forgot his pager and asked Frau to go home with him to look for it, he grabbed her arm as they neared the house.

Frau told the man she would wait outside for him, but he kept attempting to get her inside his home, claiming he wanted to “show her something.” Recognizing this as a red flag, Frau started to walk down the stairs when the man grabbed her. She then left the home as quickly as possible, she told the paper.

But Frau’s experience wasn’t unique. On Jan. 10, Northeastern sent an alert to students claiming a man in his 20s, who identifies himself as a doctor at Tufts who lives on Newbury Street, has attempted to sexually assault several young women since last summer.

The Boston Police Sexual Assault Unit is investigating the incidents, the article continues.
