Federal authorities were asking on Wednesday for the public’s help locating a man who was allegedly involved in the shooting and robbery of a postal worker in Dorchester just before Christmas.

While authorities were seeking Keyon Taylor, 21, they arrested Maurice Williams Miner-Gittens, 23, of Dorchester, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Both face charges of conspiracy to rob, attempted robbery and kidnapping of a federal employee. They face a maximum sentence of life in prison for the kidnapping charge.

According to a federal affidavit, the postal worker was delivering holiday packages in Dorchester on Dec. 20 when Taylor jumped into the truck and put a gun to the worker’s head. The worker and Taylor fought, during which the worker was shot in the wrist. He was then beaten, stripped and told to lie down.

The worker jumped out of the back of the truck when Taylor began to drive it away, authorities said. Taylor later abandoned the truck.

Authorities said Taylor left boot prints in the snow leading away from the truck, as well as blood on a nearby fence.

Authorities also said that Miner-Gittens rented and drove a U-Haul truck that was used in the robbery and had the postal worker’s blood on the outside of it.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Taylor may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information can call 877-876-2455.
