Charges against a teenager who claims he didn’t commit a crime and was the victim of police brutality proceeded today towards trial after a hearing at Philadelphia Family Court.

Darrin Manning, 16, a student at Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School, had his trial date scheduled for March 7, CBS reported.

Manning claims he was arrested for no reason and had his testicle ruptured by a female officer during the arrest, and that he later required medical attention.

However, he is reportedly charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

Meanwhile, a “Justice for Darin Manning” rally to demand that all charges be dropped was postponed from today at 4 p.m. to next Thursday, Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. at Broad and Girard avenues.’

The rally, organized by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Action Network, will be held to demand “the immediate arrest of the female cop who maliciously sexually assaulted a child” and that the “U.S. Justice Department broaden its investigation into the Philadelphia Police Department for this abuse of power and excessive use of force.”

The Penn. Chapter of the National Action Network did not respond to calls for comment.

Last week the Philadelphia Police department posted a one hour and five minute long video taken by surveillance cameras near 15th Street and Girard Avenue after a high schooler said he was abused by police during an arrest on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

However, the rotating surveillance camera recorded parts of the incident, but not the complete arrest.

UPDATE 3:58 p.m.: An “emergency town hall meeting” regarding Darrin Manning has been scheduled for 7 p.m. at Catalyst for Change Ministries, 3727 Baring St. (on 38th Street).
