Student may have been high before fatal drop from NYU dorm
A New York University student may have been high on mushrooms before a fatal drop from a dorm in the East Village Monday morning, according to reports.
According to the New York Daily News, the 19-year-old freshman, who was not otherwise identified by officials, was naked and high before he plummeted from the 15-story dorm.
Police and university officials said the student dropped into an interior courtyard at the Third North Residence Hall near East 11th Street about 3:20 a.m.
He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause of death. Police said the student might have been high, but it’s still unclear if the fall was intentional.
“Police and the university are looking into events preceding the discovery of the body in order to determine the cause and nature of his death,” NYU spokesman John Beckman said.
