On the one-year anniversary of the fatal shooting of popular Malden skateboard shop owner Shawn Clark, authorities renewed their call for the public’s help as the suspected gunmen have not been caught.

“We have been working diligently since that day to identify those two individuals who were actually captured on the videotape from that shop,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a news conference on Wednesday.

Ryan refused to discuss any new details in the case, saying that it was a “very active, ongoing investigation.”

Clark, 39, the owner of Patriot Skateboards, was fatally shot following a struggle with two men who walked into his shop on the afternoon of Jan. 29, 2013, authorities have said.

Authorities have released surveillance video from Clark’s store with the hope that the public could help identify the two men who were wearing hoods when they walked into the store before the murder. Ryan said that investigators are working with experts to enhance the video.

Clark, a former Marine who lived with his wife and two children in Saugus, was active in the Malden community and hosted various events at the city’s skate park. Clark’s family and friends, and others, have raised $60,000 for a reward for information leading to the arrest of his killers.

Malden Police Chief Kevin Molis said the murder took the community by surprise.

“We did have a father, a husband, a friend and a man that served his country honorably [murdered], and all those factors have stayed with us and will continue to remain with us and kind of furthers resolve to continue to work this case as hard as we have been,” Molis said.

Anyone with information can call Malden detectives at 781-397-7181.
