Midwestern mother sets Wing Bowl 22 record
Don’t count out the women when it comes to the Wing Bowl.
Newbie Molly Schuyler won SportsRadio 94 WIP’s Wing Bowl 22, setting a new record for wings consumed at the annual eating contest held Friday morning. The Midwestern sensation and mother of four chewed and gnawed through a record 363 wings on her road to victory. She was awarded a $22,000 prize for her efforts.
After her crowning, she told the WIP hosts she didn’t want to eat another chicken wing “for a while.”
“Hopefully I’ll be back next year,” she said.
Takeru Kobayashi set the previous record with 337 wings consumed in 2012.
Schuyler, of Omaha, Nebraska, was the second woman to ever win the competition. Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas chomped through 167 wings at Wing Bowl 12 in 2004.
Schuyler bested an assortment of characters and former champions, including Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce.
