Snowplow strikes and kills 73-year-old pedestrian in Brooklyn
A snowplow struck and killed a 73-year-old pedestrian in Brooklyn during the storm Monday, police said.
A backhoe used to clear snow was backing up when it hit Stanislav Chernyshov, who police said was crossing Oceana Terrace in the middle of the Brighton Beach block just before noon.
Chernyshov was taken to Coney Island Hospital with severe head trauma and pronounced dead.
He was crossing the block in front of his home, police said.
The plow’s operator remained at the scene. Cops said the investigation is ongoing.
Police said the plow was from a private company.
Parts of Brooklyn had over 5 inches of snow by noon and more snow is expected later this week.
