De Blasio’s ‘Pizzagate’ fork up for auction
Mayor Bill de Blasio’s utensil of choice during his visit to Goodfellas Pizzeria in Staten Island is now up for auction.
The infamous fork behind “Pizzagate” was preserved in an NYPD evidence bag by Goodfellas co-owner and former police sergeant Marc Cosentino.
He and his brother Scot, the pizzeria’s co-owner, handed the four-pronged piece of silverware on Thursday to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a local nonprofit named after a Staten Island firefighter who was killed on Sept. 11.
Proceeds from the auction will support the charity’s Superstorm Sandy relief efforts and its building program for injured veterans.
“It’s a piece of New York City history now,” Tunnel to Towers Foundation director John Hodge said, calling de Blasio’s episode with Staten Island pizza “a quintessential New York moment that people will never forget.”
Folks have until Feb. 21 to bid on the fork.
