Get pumped for Valentine’s Day tours at Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
Don’t dump on love — spend Valentine’s Day touring the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The city’s Department of Environmental Protection promises the third annual tour of the Digester Eggs at the plant offers a “unique” alternative to the usual humdrum — and perhaps more romantic — Valentine’s Day destinations.
Superintendent Jim Pynn will lead lovebirds through the wastewater treatment process at the plant, which is in the final stages of a $5 billion upgrade.
Visitors will also get a chance to view the Manhattan skyline from the observation desk atop the eggs and will take home a special giveaway.
Space for the tours is limited. Those interested can register online.
