Missing fashion designer Michele Savoia found dead in Hudson River
The body of a missing fashion designer was pulled from the Hudson River on Sunday near the yacht he was living on, police said.
Michele Savoia, 55, was last seen at a Chelsea nightclub early Thursday morning, just a few blocks from where his boat was docked near 12th Avenue and 25th Street.
After celebrating New York Fashion Week with friends, Savoia was last seen leaving Marquee nightclub on 10th Avenue around 4 a.m. He was reported missing Saturday.
NYPD divers pulled Savoia’s body from the water about 20 feet from his boat at Pier 59 around 1:20 p.m. Sunday.
Police suspect Savoia may have slipped from a gangplank leading to his yacht, but his death remains under investigation.
Known as “Savoia the Tailor,” his client list included Chris North, Robert De Niro and Mickey Rourke. He has also outfitted Broadway musicals.
His store, House of Savoia, is on Essex Street in the Lower East Side.
