Elderly Lowell woman pulls gun on man demanding money for shoveling her driveway
An elderly Lowell woman used a firearm to scare off a man who demanded payment for shoveling her driveway, despite the fact that she hadn’t asked him to do it.
The woman, who has a license to carry a firearm, pulled out her gun to the shoveler’s surprise after he knocked on her door and demanded payment since he had just shoveled her driveway, the Lowell Sun reported. The woman and her husband never asked for assistance with the shoveling.
“He started banging on the door louder so they got nervous,” Capt. Thomas Meehan told the Sun. ”She feared he was going to break in so she opened the door again with the firearm at her side. She never pointed it, but she said, ‘Get off my property. I’m going to call the police.’”
At the sight of her gun, the shoveler left. Police later found him around the neighborhood, and made it clear he should leave the area.
