Wi-Fi and cellphone service is coming to more subway stations this summer as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority rolls out the next push to connect commuters.

Starting next month, Transit Wireless and the MTA will begin the second phase of their efforts to provide service throughout the city’s subway system.

Officials expect more Wi-Fi and cell service to be installed by June, beginning with 11 new stations in Midtown, including Grand Central Terminal, 34th Street/Herald Square and Bryant Park. The entire borough of Queens is also expected to be connected by the summer.

Some 250 million annual riders with cell service on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and Sprint will benefit from the upcoming wireless installations.

“This is a huge benefit to all the visitors and tourists that come to New York City every day,” Transit Wireless head William Bayne Jr. said in a statement Wednesday.

MTA head Thomas Prendergast added that the ability to call 911 will increase security within the subway system.

“The MTA’s firm commitment to bringing our transit system into the 21st century continues to bear fruit with new technology that will improve our customers’ daily commutes,” Prendergast said in a statement.

During the first phase of the project, 36 underground stations were wired for service.

In 2013, about 2.6 million connections were served though the existing Wi-Fi network, processing more information than the Hubble Space Telescope has collected in two decades.

The MTA aims to connect all 277 underground stations with wireless by 2017.
