Gov. Chris Christie coming to Massachusetts ‘soon’
Republican Governors Association Chairman Chris Christie will be in Massachusetts “soon” for finance events, according to RGA press secretary Jon Thompson, who declined to discuss what the organization’s strategy might be in Massachusetts this year.
After losing to Gov. Deval Patrick in 2010, Republican Charlie Baker is running again, and Thompson praised the front-runner in an email to the News Service.
“Charlie Baker’s clear record of bipartisan leadership, promoting small business, and education reform proves he has the experience to be ready to govern on day one. The RGA has no doubt Baker will make the Bay State a great place to raise a family and start a business,” Thompson said.
Thompson did not respond to follow-up emails about lesser known Republican candidate Mark Fisher, a Shrewsbury manufacturer who would like to remove the turnpike tolls. In 2010, the RGA played a role in the three-way governor’s race, attacking independent candidate Tim Cahill, who was seen by many as sapping anti-Patrick voters away from Baker.
