Junior’s to sell long-time Downtown Brooklyn location
One of Brooklyn’s oldest eateries is set to shutter its doors, at least temporarily.
The owners of the original Junior’s Most Fabulous Cheesecake and Desserts put its flagship building at the intersection of Dekalb Avenue and the Flatbush Avenue Extension on the market, likely for residential development.
The restaurant has been an in Downtown Brooklyn mainstay for more than 60 years and is looking for a new short-term home. The property’s marketer told the Daily News on Thursday that the owners hope to come back to the location but as as renters.
The Rosen family, Junior’s owners for three generations, have had a press presence at the location long before they rechristened the restaurant with the name that earned it its popularity and renown for sweet eats.
It was also the spot where President Barack Obama greeted customers last year and took some grub to go with then-mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio.
