Sixers fan asleep in front row becomes Twitter sensation

Sometimes when what you’re watching is just too depressing to believe, it’s better to just close your eyes and nod off to sleep.

During a match-up with the hated Milwaukee Bucks Monday night, a game which Philadelphia’s struggling Sixers lost by 20 points, fans were apparently so bored that even a front-row seat wasn’t enough to keep one man awake.

Fans tweeting about the game using the tag #sixerstalk read about “The Sleeping Guy,” as he was dubbed, and even prompted an amateur funnyman to sneak over and spy on the sleeping Philadelphian.

Then Josh got a little closer and decided to just sit down next to the man, who was partly slumped over in his chair with his head hanging down on his chest.

Fans sitting around the sleeping guy seemed to enjoy the diversion from the massacre on the court and several can be seen smiling in the background of the photo. Sports reporters picked up on sleeping guy and tweeted about it in between updates on the actual basketball game.

Read more tweets about The Sleeping Guy below. Extra points if anyone can send his identity to @Metrophilly.

In the end, Sleeping Guy was proven to be alive, and left the arena under his own power, perhaps unaware that he is a freshly-minted Twitter celebrity.
