Wissahickon rape suspect arrested, police say
Police arrested a man this afternoon suspected of raping a 32-year-old woman in Wissahickon on Saturday, police said.
Edward Kappe, 46, of the 600 block of Maris Street, was arrested today and charged for allegedly sexually assaulting and then robbing the woman at knife point around 11:30 a.m. on the 400 block of Seville Street, according to a news release.
Police said Kappe then stole the woman’s cell phone, purse – which contained her wallet – and car keys.
Around 1:12 p.m. today Kappe was arrested on the 2900 block of West Allegheny Avenue. He was in possession of the woman’s items, police said.
Kappe was charged with rape, aggravated assault, simple assault, theft, burglary, and related offenses.
