After two months in office, a new poll revealed a majority of New Yorkers like Mayor Bill de Blasio but not necessarily how he’s doing his job.

A Marist poll/NBC 4 New York/Wall Street Journal poll revealed that 39 percent of voters asked approve of de Blasio’s work so far, with 20 percent calling his performance poor.

New Yorkers did give de Blasio credit for his handling of the city’s blustery winter weather, with seven snowstorms since he took office on Jan. 1. Fifty six percent were satisfied with the administration’s response, while 41 disapproved.

Meanwhile, 52 percent of registered voters polled have a favorable impression of the mayor, who ran a successful campaign based on eliminating income and social inequality after 12 years of former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Even so, Bloomberg himself had higher marks at this point in his first term. Marist reported that Bloomberg had a 50 percent approval rating in 2002, with 6 percent grading him work as poor.

The survey of 785 New Yorkers — including 586 registered voters — between Feb. 27 and March 4. Registered voters results have a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Results for all New Yorkers polled has a plus or minus 3.5 percentage points error margin.
