Delaware man allegedly raped woman nine times over two years
A New Castle, Del. man was charged Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman over a three year period, including forcibly raping her nine times over a two-year span, state police said.
State Police said a 25-year-old woman reported in January that Jorge Arellano, 35, had sexually abused her at gunpoint in a Wilmington-area parking lot. As the investigation continued police discovered nine previous incidents of forcible rape the woman nine times between 2010 and 2011 in multiple counties.
Further investigation found the victim reported in May 2011 that Arellano had broken into her Dover home and assaulted her and a “male acquaintance.”
Arellano was picked up Monday night on U.S. Route 13 during a traffic stop. He gave police a fake name, but was arrested after police uncovered his true identity.
He was charged with nine counts of rape first degree and related charges.
He was sent to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute in lieu of a $1,708,000 cash bail.
