One World Trade Center base jumping stunt lands four New Yorkers in jail

Three skydivers accused of jumping from One World Trade Center last fall, and another man who allegedly acted as a lookout, have been arrested, police announced Monday.

The four men, all from New York state, were taken into custody after a helmet cam video of the skydive was released on YouTube.

Marko Markovich, 27, of Lake Ronkonkoma; Andrew Rossig, 33, of Slate Hill; Kyle Hartwell, 29, of East Patchogue; and James Brady, 32, of Kings Park, have been charged with burglary, reckless endangerment and jumping from a structure, police said.

Brady was a construction worker assigned to the One World Trade Center site at the time of the incident, police said.

Police were searching for two men last fall after they were spotted parachuting down in the area about 3 a.m. on Sept. 30.

Monday’s arrests came following a five-and-a-half-month investigation by the NYPD Intelligence Division and Port Authority Police.

“These men violated the law and placed themselves, as well as others, in danger,” Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said in a statement.

“These arrests should send a message to anyone thinking about misusing a landmark this way. They will be tracked down and they will face serious charges. Being a thrill-seeker does not give immunity from the law.”

Earlier this month, a New Jersey teen was arrested after he allegedly snuck onto the top of One World Trade Center.
