A Long Island high school student who had hoped to be accepted into an Ivy League school has his pick of all eight prestigious institutions.

Kwasi Enin, a student at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach, has been accepted to all eight Ivy League schools, an achievement his guidance counselor calls “extraordinary.”

“It’s a big deal when we have students apply to one or two Ivies. To get into one or two is huge,” Nancy Winkler told USA Today. She said she has never seen anything like this in her 29 years as a guidance counselor.

Acceptance rates range from 14 percent at Cornell to only 5.9 percent at Harvard, according to USA Today.

Enin ranks No. 11 in his class of 647 students. He scored 2250 out of a possible 2400 points on the SAT, and he will have taken 11 Advanced Placement courses by the time he graduates. He also sings in the school’s acapella group and volunteers at a hospital.

The high school senior told USA Today that he decided to apply to all eight schools because they each had qualities that he liked.

Enin, whose parents emigrated from Ghana and work as nurses, said he plans to study medicine. He must decide where he will attend by May 1.
